Job Overview

The Senior Associate Brand Manager at Hostess Brands is a key leader within the Brand Management team to provide ongoing brand and category leadership and business and consumer analysis to drive growth in the Hostess Brand business and to lead decision making for the team and the organization.


  • Enable delivery of revenue, volume, and gross profit targets for assigned business portfolio
  • In-depth analysis of Nielsen syndicated data, point-of-sale and/or other research, category and consumer data in support of marketing initiatives, identify business opportunities, and make recommendations to achieve marketing goals
  • Lead cross-functional teams and external agencies to execute all aspects of the business plan, including branding, packaging, consumer promotion, trade support, manufacturing, quality, supply chain and finance
  • Develop and maintain internal and external presentation decks, including customer facing marketing materials and/or communications on the strategy, insights, and justification for new and existing items
  • Collaborate with Sales, Insights and category management teams in developing the viability and execution of customer business strategies; Monitor, evaluate, and report out execution of programs to key stakeholders
  • Work with the Marketing Activation team to manage agencies and outside marketing vendors involved in the creation and execution of marketing materials and programs, ensuring that both the messaging and the budget allocated to that messaging is appropriate and strategic
  • Partner with Innovation and/or Marketing Activation in annual brand and innovation plans, and assist in the delivery of those plans to market
  • Track sub-brand performance and analytics via monthly scorecards and brand trackers, including detailed reporting on innovation performance and implications
  • Assist in the design and development of a robust, insight driven product pipeline by researching and analyzing marketing, consumer, and sales data and presenting market trends and competitive analysis results


  • BA/BS in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field. MBA in Marketing preferred
  • 4+ years of brand marketing experience without an MBA, or 2+ years of experience with an MBA; Classically trained consumer packaged goods experience highly preferred
  • Proficient with MS Office suite and IRI/Nielsen syndicated data
  • Food experience preferred but not required
  • Must have high financial literacy and strong business acumen across all organizational disciplines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to analyze, synthesize, formulate, and present recommendations
  • Passionate about setting brand strategy and driving growth by better meeting consumer needs
  • Track record of success in leading cross-functional teams of internal and agency counterparts - Consumer Insights, Sales and Trade, Marketing Activation, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance - to set and achieve goals
  • Proven ability to thrive and drive results in an entrepreneurial environment with limited resources, including making decisions with imperfect information and managing multiple demands in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to influence and build credibility with all levels and functions of the organization
