Job Overview

Business Manager-Kroger will partner with the Director(s) of Sales to drive growth objectives at Kroger.  Primary responsibility is to be the key liaison between the Kroger/Hostess Headquarter Team in Cincinnati and the Broker/Hostess Brands Retail Team. He/She will be responsible for identifying and developing growth opportunities for Hostess Brands (including Hostess Snack Cakes and Voortman Cookies), and ensuring the divisional and retail plans maximize the strategic direction and financial objectives of the company, attain market leadership and drive long term growth.  Successful candidates will have a strong background in either headquarter or division account management, category management and be proficient in developing high-quality customer-facing presentations.  Candidates must have both strong oral and written presentation skills and ability to balance multiple complex competing priorities.


  • Work with Sales Director(s) to achieve budgeted sales, profit and distribution objectives and meet sales goals.
  • Assists Sales Director(s) to identify key regional opportunities and utilize the full extent of company resources to obtain and expand distribution and merchandising across markets
  • Manage the business at the divisional level by leveraging new and existing contacts and relationships with the broker and customers.
  • Work with broker and internal cross-functional teams to lead divisional and retail execution of merchandising, assortment, pricing, and promotion. 
  • Utilize data (syndicated, internal, customer) to build internal & external presentations, develop selling tools for field team
  • Monitor retail and division selling results and provide timely action plans to maximize performance against the Kroger corporate sales plan
  • Ability to develop new business as assigned.

  • Strong technical acumen in sales, financial, or customer information systems such as Market 6, Stratum, and syndicated data.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new systems and skills quickly.


  • 3-5 years’ experience in CPG/packaged food sales in partnership with a broker. Direct selling experience strongly preferred.
  • 50% Travel required (Travel to Kroger markets for Retail and Kroger Division appointments)
  • Experience calling on Kroger at Corporate and/or Division level preferred
  • Proficient in Market 6, Stratum, and syndicated data
  • Previous Kroger Account Management or Category Management experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Kroger retail sales, marketing, and distribution strategies. Warehouse distribution experience is a plus.




  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or equivalent experience/training required
