Job Overview

Day Shift: 6:30am-3pm 

 

The Shipping & Receiving Manager leads all Distribution and Transportation planning and strategic activities. This position also coordinates product flow from Plant to Depot and Plant- to- Plant, utilizing proper Transportation scheduling that follows Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Determines the necessary manpower needed in the Distribution Department per volume levels.
  • Tracks manpower and develops programs to ensure labor is flexing to volume levels.
  • Determines the transportation schedules for all runs to depots and sister plants.
  • Identifies the opportunities for capturing transportation synergies between depots and sister plants.
  • Monitors drivers logs daily to ensure that the drivers are complying with DOT regulations.
  • Identifies, tracks, and helps correct the unaccounted-for issues between Production, Distribution, Retail and Sales.
  • Implements tracking of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) from Plant to Depot and Plant-to-Plant.
  • Owns the implementation and tracking of Safety programs for the Distribution and Transportation departments.
  • Directs and supervises procedures and processes to ensure most economical utilization.
  • Prioritizes and manages strategic and tactical Transportation initiatives and decision-making activities.
    Works with management to develop a long-term strategy and anticipate trends accurately.
  • Directs and guides employees ensuring adherence to Good Manufacturing Programs (GMP).
  • Develops and maintains a productive staff through hiring, training, and professional development; matches the skill and background of associates to the work required; applies sound communication and motivational techniques, to supervise, counsel, and discipline subordinates; implements performance evaluation systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or Logistics or equivalent Distribution or Transportation experience is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Distribution, Transportation, product flow analysis, or network analysis
  • More than three years of experience as an Assistant Manager or Supervisor is preferred
  • Experience in Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) industry is preferred
  • Ability to convey and present findings and direction to management and business colleagues both orally and in written format
  • Ability to Interface with organizations and department managers to resolve issues
  • Ability to influence and develop effective working relationships with management and colleagues
  • Fact-based decision making and analysis skills
  • Negotiation skills
